Three types of steam traps
A trap is a valve used in steam pipe networks and equipment to automatically discharge condensed water, air and other non-condensable gases and prevent water vapor leakage.
According to the different working principles of steam traps, steam traps can be divided into the following three types:
1. Mechanical type: Rely on the change of the condensed water level in the steam trap, which includes the following three types:
Float type: The float is a closed hollow sphere; the open upward float type: the float is a barrel type with an upward opening; the open downward float type: the float is a barrel type with an opening downward.
2. Thermostatic type: Action depends on the change of liquid temperature, including:
Bimetallic piece: The sensitive original is a bimetallic piece
Vapor pressure type: The sensitive original is a bellows or an ink cartridge, and the inside is filled with a volatile liquid
3. Thermodynamic type: Action depends on the change of the thermodynamic properties of the liquid, including:
Disc type: Due to the different flow rates of liquid and gas under the same pressure, the different dynamic and static pressures generated drive the action of the disc valve.
Pulse type: As the condensed water of different temperatures passes through the two poles in series with the orifice plate type, the different pressures sitting between the two poles of the orifice plate drive the disc action
